MBAA Education Program: Raising the Standard

Making a difference all across Mississippi

The Mississippi Bail Agents Association began a major upgrade of its education program with the release of the revised Bail Procedures Manual in January 2025. The manual was submitted for peer review to the Mississippi Judicial College, the official judicial education and training body for the State of Mississippi. That review was instrumental in our effort to provide accurate, professional education not only to bail agents, but also to judges, court clerks, sheriffs, prosecutors, and other criminal justice professionals across Mississippi.

The MBAA was subsequently invited by the Mississippi Judicial College to participate in conferences for judges and court clerks and to provide instruction on Mississippi bail procedures. These opportunities have helped improve understanding, promote consistency, and strengthen the handling and processing of bail throughout the state. While providing this training, the MBAA has distributed more than 1,000 copies of the revised Bail Procedures Manual across Mississippi.

The MBAA then took bail agent education to another level by professionally filming instructional content based on the Bail Procedures Manual. That content became the foundation of the Association’s online continuing education program, giving Mississippi bail agents greater access to practical instruction concerning the laws, rules, and procedures that govern their profession.

The work is continuing. The MBAA Education Committee is now developing the next update to the program for 2027. Our objective remains the same: to provide serious, accurate, and useful education that strengthens the knowledge and skills of Mississippi bail agents while improving consistency throughout the criminal justice system.
